As with any biometric system, the accuracy of the system depends on the quality of the input provided to the system for analysis. With facial recognition, the faces that are to be detected and recognised should be optimal to ensure that the features required for analysis are not missed.
The following are a few of the conditions to be met when using images for facial recognition
- Good Lighting– ensure a minimum of 50 Lux
- Right Pose– For critical applications, it is recommended to have the person facing the camera upright for best results
- Ideal Size– FaceX APIs require that image size should meet the minimum requirement of 80px distance between the eyes.
- Single Face/ Bounding box– Unless if using Face Detect API, please use images that contain only one face or provide the correct bounding box
